Overview
Moodboard Studio is a Chrome extension that allows you to capture and save web content (links, screenshots, and colors) to your personal moodboards on Ideate. This privacy policy is specific to the Chrome extension and supplements the main Ideate Privacy Policy.
At Ideate, your trust means everything to us. We're committed to protecting your privacy and safeguarding any personal information you share with us.
Information We Collect
1. Authentication Data
- What: User authentication tokens provided by Clerk (our authentication provider)
- Why: To securely identify you and sync your content with your Ideate account
- Storage: Encrypted and stored locally in Chrome's sync storage
- Retention: Tokens are removed when you sign out or uninstall the extension
2. User Preferences
- What: Extension settings (selected moodboard, theme preference)
- Why: To remember your preferences across browser sessions
- Storage: Chrome's local storage on your device
- Retention: Retained until you clear browser data or uninstall the extension
3. Content You Capture
- What: URLs, screenshots, and color samples you choose to save
- Why: To add content to your moodboards on Ideate
- Storage: Temporarily processed in the extension, then sent to our backend (Convex) and stored in your Ideate account
- Retention: Stored according to Ideate's main privacy policy
4. Usage Data
- What: Browser version, extension version, error logs
- Why: To diagnose issues and improve the extension
- Storage: Not stored permanently; used only for debugging active sessions
- Retention: Not retained after session ends
What We Do NOT Collect
- We do NOT track your browsing history
- We do NOT collect data from websites unless you explicitly use a capture feature
- We do NOT sell or share your data with third parties
- We do NOT access your data on websites without your action (clicking extension button or using keyboard shortcut)
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Power and personalize the Ideate experience
- Verify your identity and maintain your session with Ideate
- Save your captured content to your Ideate moodboards
- Enable features like area selection, color picking, and link saving
- Analyze platform usage and improve functionality
- Detect, prevent, and respond to security issues or legal obligations
Third-Party Services We Use
Purpose: User authentication
Data Shared: Email address, user ID
Privacy Policy: clerk.com/privacy
Purpose: Backend database and real-time sync
Data Shared: User ID, captured content, moodboard data
Privacy Policy: convex.dev/privacy
Google Chrome
Purpose: Extension hosting and storage APIs
Data Shared: Extension usage data (managed by Chrome)
Privacy Policy: google.com/chrome/privacy
We never sell your data to third parties.
Your Rights
Depending on your region, you may have the right to:
- Access: View all data associated with your account at app.ideatebetter.com
- Download: Request a copy of your data by contacting rahmi@ideatebetter.com
- Correct: Request corrections or updates to your information
- Delete: Remove your data by signing out of the extension, deleting specific moodboard items, or deleting your Ideate account
- Opt-Out: Stop data collection by uninstalling the extension
Data Security
We apply industry-standard security measures to protect your information:
- Encryption: Authentication tokens are encrypted in Chrome's sync storage
- HTTPS Only: All data transmission uses secure HTTPS connections
- Access Control: Only you can access your moodboards (unless explicitly shared)
- No Plaintext Passwords: We never store or have access to your password (managed by Clerk)
- Secure Storage: Chrome's sync storage with built-in encryption
While no system is 100% secure, we are committed to continually improving our safeguards.

Children's Privacy
